A Decade of Excellence

The NUALS Parliamentary Debate (NPD) has undergone a remarkable evolution since its inception in 2014, growing from a 30-team Asian Parliamentary event into one of South India’s most prestigious British Parliamentary (BP) tournaments. This decade of progress is marked by a successful transition to the BP format by its 5th edition, aligning the competition with international debating standards and fostering a more sophisticated intellectual environment.

The legacy of the NPD is also defined by its commitment to inclusivity and intellectual rigour. By offering separate Open and Novice categories and welcoming cross-institutional teams, the tournament provides a platform for debaters at all levels to excel. Combined with robust equity policies and the unique cultural backdrop of Kochi, the NPD has successfully established itself as a staple of excellence in the Indian debating community over the past ten editions.

The Organising Committee for the 10th NUALS Parliamentary Debate (NPD) welcomes you warmly to NUALS Kochi for this milestone edition, running from March 6-8, 2026.

Over a decade, NPD has become more than an event; it's a quiet legacy shaped by the dedication of countless participants and organisers whose voices have honed Kerala's most enduring British Parliamentary tradition. We've watched arguments sharpen into insights, rivalries into respect, and annual gatherings into a shared commitment to legal discourse's deeper currents; moments that have marked personal growth for many in our community.

This year, our partnership with the Centre for Parliamentary Studies and Law Reforms (CPSLR) enriches that journey, linking competitive clash with thoughtful explorations of legislative reform and interdisciplinary challenges. With 40 teams and a strong adjudication panel, expect motions that reward both craft and conviction across three full days of preliminary rounds, breaks, and finals.
